Academic Mentor at Independent School in Lewisham

An independent school in Southeast London is looking for an Academic Mentor to join their team until Easter and potentially longer. 

About the School:
This school has excellent facilities and grounds which accommodates students from the early years/foundation stage up to the sixth form. The school has been based at this location in Catford for more than one century.  
It has excellent connections to central London via Southern rail and consistently produces students that score above the national average at GCSE level. 
The school offers a broad curriculum that promotes creativity and innovation & extensive extra-curricular programs are also offered. It actively promotes the spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of pupils as responsible, tolerant, law-abiding citizens.

About the Role:
The school is looking for an Academic Mentor to join their team. The role involves working with the Learning Resource Centre to work with students in year 10 and 11 to achieve their academic potential. It requires the right person to plan, deliver and monitor appropriate learning activities for students in need of academic mentoring. 

This role involves working with and collaborating with the Assistant Head of the school and Head of Inclusion and Enrichment. 

This role would be suited to a graduate secondary teacher or unqualified teacher with proven experience teaching/tutoring KS4 students. 

The role will continue to Easter with the potential to become permanent. 
The daily rate for this role with vary on experience but will be between £80-100/day.  

To apply and commence working with us you must meet the below criteria:

  • Possess an Enhanced Child DBS with an update service subscription, or demonstrate the willingness to apply for one through anzuk.
  • Possess an updated CV, outlining paid employment covering the last two years - any gaps in employment must be accounted for.
  • Be based in London, or surrounding areas, and able to provide a valid police check from countries you have lived in (outside of the United Kingdom) within the last 5 years.
  • Be able to show experience working with children in a coaching, tutoring, teaching or mentoring role - or a willingness to learn and undertake new challenges!
You must have all of the above to be able to be cleared for work.
