Maths Teacher needed for SEMH Secondary School in Gloucester!

We have the role for you, an exciting opportunity to become part of a new Secondary Specialist Setting in Gloucester, who align with this belief, has arisen! 

This day school will provide high-quality education, specifically designed to meet the needs of secondary aged pupils (year 7 to 11) with education, health and care plans. By offering a vibrant and specialised environment, they seek to ensure all its students will have the same learning opportunities as their peers in mainstream classrooms. 

The cohort of young people within this setting will come from a wide range of backgrounds and all have Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH). Many will also have other Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) such as ASC, ADHD, and communication difficulties.

The Role:

  • Full Time from September 2022
  • Delivering Maths lessons to a small class base, across years 7 to 11
  • Promoting effective learning whist providing a safe and nurturing environment for all students
  • Utilising a variety of strategies that will enhance pupils’ personal and academic development
  • Planning modules according to pupil need, IEP aims and the Science  curriculum
  • Ensuring assessments contribute effectively towards all students educational needs
  • Facilitating and encouraging a learning experience which enables students to achieve their individual potential
The Ideal Candidate Will:
  • Be highly committed to delivering exceptional education to all students
  • Have a passion for working in SEND settings and supporting vulnerable young people 
  • Demonstrate good subject and curriculum knowledge around Mathematics
  • Will have the ability to form and maintain appropriate, positive relationships and boundaries with students 
  • Be resilient and have strong behaviour management skills to assist in promoting a learning environment
  • Have some knowledge of agencies involved with SEND students
  • Hold the appropriate teaching qualification, UK QTS or equivalent and a valid right to work in the UK
  • Specific experience with literacy is a bonus as some students will need interventions with their reading and writing. Phonics & Read write inc experience would be desirable
