Founded in 1995, AISHK is a leading Reception (K2) to Year 12 co-educational day school offering a high-quality Australian curriculum in a vibrant international setting. With 1,200 students from over 25 nationalities, this is the only school in Hong Kong delivering the Australian curriculum on an Australian school year cycle.

The Opportunity
 
We are seeking an outstanding and values-driven leader to join the Primary Leadership Team. Reporting to the Head of Primary and Head of School, this role provides strategic and operational leadership across student wellbeing, pastoral care, staff development, and community engagement, ensuring that school culture, policy, and practice align with the school’s vision, values, and strategic direction.

The Deputy Head will model exemplary professional practice, promote a positive and inclusive school culture, and foster strong relationships between students, staff, families, and the wider community.
 
Key Responsibilities

• Lead student wellbeing, pastoral care, and behaviour frameworks, including restorative practices and complex case management
• Collaborate with key staff and use data to inform wellbeing strategies and interventions
• Provide leadership in staff coaching, mentoring, professional learning, and performance development
• Promote staff wellbeing and a positive, high-performing school culture
• Build strong partnerships with parents and lead community engagement and communication initiatives
• Support day-to-day school operations, including staffing, timetabling, events, and administration
• Oversee risk management, enrolment processes, and key operational systems
• Ensure strong safeguarding, child protection, and compliance practices
• Support high-quality teaching and learning aligned with ACARA and EYLF
• Model exemplary classroom practice and promote inclusive, contemporary pedagogy

About You
 
You are an experienced primary leader who leads with integrity, empathy, courage, and resilience:

• Qualified primary educator and leader with a commitment to ongoing learning
• Proven leadership experience in a primary school setting
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills across staff, students, families, and community
• Demonstrated ability to lead change, innovation, and school improvement
• Experience coaching, mentoring, and developing teams, including leading professional learning
• Capacity to model high-quality teaching and contemporary pedagogy
• Strong knowledge of ACARA and EYLF
• Excellent organisational, administrative, and digital capability
• Strong ethical judgement with a commitment to child safety – designated primary safeguarding lead
• Familiarity with UDL, inquiry learning, and play-based approaches (advantageous)
• Positive, collaborative, and growth-oriented leadership approach
