The Role
 
This is a key leadership role, responsible for leading and developing a high-quality, inclusive and ambitious sports programme across the Prep school from Foundation to Year 6. 
 
Key Responsibilities

  • To support the Director of Sport with the leadership of Early Years, Pre-Prep and Prep Sport, ensuring that they continue to grow the elite pathway in sport for all pupils.
  • To take a lead on KS2 PE and Games provision and begin creating the pathway to sporting excellence (Netball/Swimming).
  • To review and improve the curriculum provision for EYFS – Year 6 pupils.
  • To monitor and track attainment and progress of pupils across the Prep school in PE and swimming.
  • Provide opportunities for talented sports men and women to have a pathway to excellence.
  • To ensure the swim programme is delivered to the highest standard with a clear trajectory of pupils’ progress across the academic year.

Requirements
 
The school is seeking to appoint an experienced, well-qualified, and inspirational teacher to join the team. Staff will be given many opportunities to contribute to the life of the school, both in and out of the classroom. It is expected that all colleagues will support one another as part of an exceptional and hardworking team, with the united goal of ensuring that every child reaches their potential both academically and socially, by pushing boundaries and broadening horizons.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education with a PGCE or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Level 2 Swimming certification would be advantageous.
  • Minimum 2 years of post-qualification teaching experience at the relevant primary age range. 
  • Previous leadership experience is an advantage but this post could be a suitable step for an aspiring middle leader.
  • Experience of teaching the UK National Curriculum, preferably in an independent school context.
  • Previous international teaching experience, particularly within the Middle East, would be an advantage.
  • Ability to evidence sustained improvement of pupil progress.
  • A strong record of professional development.
  • Be able to provide a relevant and up to date police check and references.
