This school was founded in 1998 and is one of the leading schools in Thailand and South East Asia. The school has approximately 1,800 students on a beautiful 35-acre garden campus in north Bangkok, with world-class facilities for day students and boarders. The school is all through with students from Early Years to Year 13, student follow the UK curriculum to IGCSE and A level. Role
 
The Director of Academic Support works under the direction of the Deputy Head Master and Heads of School and sits on the wider Senior Leadership Team, SLT and is responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of Learning Support and EAL provision throughout the whole school. The central purpose is to oversee and continually improve school policies, systems, processes and practices through the lens of Academic Support, ensuring that all students from application to graduation, irrespective of their learning differences, enjoy the opportunities, support and challenge to enable them to flourish.
 
Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as a middle or senior leader
  • Appropriate degree, with UK PGCE, or other teaching qualification giving QTS or a degree, with
    professional recognition, in a related qualification (eg. OT, EdP, SALT)
  • SENCO qualification (or equivalent)
  • Strong experience and knowledge of EAL support
  • Excellent teaching/therapy skills and an understanding of the academic demands of the school
  • Meticulous planning and organisational skills that enable strong leadership of teams
  • Evidence of an excellent understanding of new approaches to supporting the teaching and learning of students with diverse needs, in line with research evidence, national developments, outstanding practice and the needs of students
  • Previous experience working in a through-school, or experience working with different age ranges
  • Cultural understanding and respect for all members of a school community
  • Grounded and calm approach to challenges, including evidence of ability to have successful ‘challenging
    conversations’
  • Ability to plan and deliver relevant training for staff and workshops for parents
  • Demonstrated success of leading change effectively across a whole school
