Secondary English Teacher required for a British International school in Brazil
The School
The school offers British International education to pupils in EYFS, Primary and Secondary School up to Year 13. The school is located in an exclusive district of Brasilia and enjoys a spacious, green, clean-air environment.
Since opening in 2016, the school has established itself as the school of choice for many expatriate and Brazilian parents seeking an international education in Brasilia. The core of our curriculum is British, with a distinct international flavour. The staff have experience of working both in the UK and abroad and are drawn from a range of countries and cultures.
The Role
The successful candidate will teach IB Diploma Programme English (Language & Literature and/or Literature), delivering high-quality lessons in line with IB standards and assessment criteria. You will play a key role in preparing students for internal assessments, oral assessments, coursework, and external examinations, ensuring accurate marking and moderation. You will foster independent learning, critical thinking, and advanced academic writing skills, while supporting students with Extended Essays and contributing to the wider IB ethos, including links to Theory of Knowledge (TOK) where appropriate.
The Ideal Candidate
We are seeking an outstanding practitioner who:
● Holds a recognised teaching qualification (QTS or equivalent)
● Has UK or international secondary teaching experience
● Has proven experience teaching the IB Diploma English Programme
● Demonstrates strong subject knowledge and a clear understanding of IB assessment and philosophy
● Has experience preparing students for coursework, oral assessments, and external examinations
● Is reflective, well organised, and committed to continuous professional development
● Communicates effectively and works collaboratively within a high-performing team
Pastoral and Professional Contribution
At BSB, IB teachers play a vital role in both academic and pastoral life. You will mentor students, promote their wellbeing, participate in IB training and standardisation, and uphold the school’s behaviour and safeguarding
policies consistently. You will also contribute to curriculum development, professional dialogue, and wider school activities.
