This is a K-12 international bilingual school in China’s Greater Bay Area and is part of a highly regarded family of British schools. The school is located on a 50,000m² campus, designed to educate around 900 students, including up to 300 boarders. It follows a British-style international curriculum adapted for a bilingual learning environment. The academic programme is based on the English National Curriculum, delivered through a combination of English and Chinese instruction to support both linguistic fluency and strong subject mastery.

- Provide professional leadership and management of English both as an academic subject leading to IGCSE and A level, and EAL, in order to secure high quality teaching, the effective use of resources, and improved standards of learning and achievement for all students
- Model and promote best practice in the teaching and learning of English
- Monitor and evaluate all aspects of the work of English and to respond appropriately to emergent issues, ensuring that students are supported in their learning journey
- Promote high standards in all aspects of school life, particularly in student progress
- Actively support the values, vision, ethos, culture and policies of the school
- Inspire and motivate students, teachers and other school employees
- Comply with the professional duties of the Harrow staff Code of Conduct
- Contribute to a school culture which is positive, purposeful and professional
- Engage positively in the school Appraisal process and performance management arrangements
- Are committed to safeguarding and to promoting the welfare of children and young people
- Are committed to fully engaging in the bilingual context of the school; through lessons, cultural events, boarding, and general collegiality
Requirements
- Appropriate degree plus UK PGCE or other recognised teaching qualification leading to QTS
- Minimum 3 years’ experience leading a team
- Strong knowledge of the English National Curriculum, including KS3, IGCSE/GCSE, and A Level as relevant
- Experience teaching (I)GCSE English Language and English Literature, and A Level English Literature or English Language & Literature
- Good understanding and application of effective ICT use to enhance learning
- Evidence of relevant and challenging ongoing professional development
- Experience supporting students for whom English is an additional language
- Up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding policies and practice
- Active and recent involvement in extracurricular activities
- International teaching experience not essential, but flexibility and a collaborative approach are required
- Strong knowledge and enthusiasm for English literature
