The School
 
This school is a leading British International School for 800 pupils between the ages of 2-18.  The School opened in September 2023 and follows the Early Years Foundation Stage framework and the English National Curriculum through to iGCSE, then the IB Diploma programme from Grade 11 (Year 12).  Pastoral care and support for pupils is focused on by everyone in the teaching teams, from class teachers to teaching assistants, and support staff.
An extensive Co-Curricular Programme of Sports and other After-School Activities is also provided to enrich and broaden the education offered.
 
The Location
  
The campus is very inspiring and incredibly well-resourced.  Staff can live close to the school or near to the city centre approximately 25 minutes away in modern apartments.  Nearby is an international airport, along with prominent hospitality, residential and retail developments to make expat living comfortable. The Role
 
As Head of Department for Maths, you will be leading the delivery of Mathematics across the Senior School with strong academic leadership, as well as undertaking a teaching load up to and including iGCSE and IB DP Mathematics. 
 
Key Responsibilities

  • As Head of Department, responsible for curriculum planning, assessment and moderation, maintaining high standards of teaching and learning, and supporting and mentoring mathematics teachers.
  • Promoting conceptual understanding, problem-solving, and student achievement across the department.
  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons aligned with the Cambridge / British National Curriculum and IB DP. 
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student participation and enjoyment with a strong focus on student well-being.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities.
  • Maintain positive relationships with students, parents, and the wider school community, demonstrating cultural sensitivity.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Maths or a related discipline, plus recognised teaching qualification eg PGCE with UK QTS
  • Minimum 5 years of post-qualification teaching and leadership experience at relevant age range.
  • IB DP Maths teaching experience is essential.  UK curriculum experience to iGCSE is also desirable.
  • Prior experience in a leadership or Head of Department role is desirable.
