The school comprises of a Pre-Prep (located in a purpose-built ‘Early Learning Village’) for children aged 18 months to 6 years a Prep School for children aged 6 to 11 years and Senior School. Senior pupils pursue IGCSEs and A-levels.

About the role

The school is seeking an inspirational Teacher of Maths (Senior School). The incumbent will teach all aspects of the math curriculum at Key Stage 3 and above.

This is an exciting opportunity for an educationalist to help shape the development of a secondary curriculum that will provide the platform needed for pupils to go on to some of the world’s leading universities. The successful candidate will be instrumental in ensuring that the educational offering aligns with the school’s commitment to building a world-class academic institution, distinctive in its own right, but with the Brighton College DNA at its core. They will be able to demonstrate the passion, expertise and ambition to take ownership of all aspects of the pupil experience of maths teaching at secondary level.

What you will be doing
  • Take responsibility for the teaching, progress and attainment of your taught classes in Years 7 to 12 from August 2026, and for all other senior year groups in the following years.
  • Support curriculum planning and delivery, including preparation for Year 11 and 12 cohorts starting in August 2026. Promote excellence, creativity and innovation in all areas of the Maths curriculum.
  • Demonstrate commitment to continuous professional development.
  • Responsible for all aspects of assessment, tracking and reporting for Maths in your taught classes.
  • Demonstrate the experience and ability to teach Maths across all relevant Key Stages (including IGCSE/GCSE and A-level). Act as an outstanding classroom practitioner, with the ability to lead by example.
  • Devise and implement rigorous self-evaluation processes.
  • Participate in the department’s extension and enrichment programme.
  • Demonstrate the experience and expertise needed to support pupils in future years with applications to leading universities, including Oxford and Cambridge and other world-class universities.
  • Ensure pupils have opportunities to prepare for, and participate in, global Maths competitions, providing appropriate stretch and challenge.
  • Work closely with the Head of Maths, Heads of EAL and AEN to develop pathways for pupils requiring additional support in your taught classes.
  • Work with the Head of Maths and Prep School middle and senior leaders to support a smooth
  • Support the development and refinement of the required KS3/4/5 curriculum and department documentation, both for current and prospective parents.
  • Contribute to the highest standards of safeguarding and to the school’s pastoral system, acting as a tutor for a Senior School year group.
  • Contribute to the co-curricular life of the school.
  • Any other reasonable management request.
Who we are looking for:

The Teacher of Maths will report to the Deputy Head Academic. They will be responsible for the pedagogical delivery of the Maths curriculum, and for ensuring that teaching excellence is embedded throughout all Key Stages. The Teacher of Maths will likely teach across Key Stage 3/4/5 Year Groups. Therefore, they will be able to demonstrate a strong track record of delivering top academic results at GCSE/IGCSE and A-level in previous roles.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Maths (or any other specialisation related to Maths), with PGCE or equivalent.
  • Expert knowledge or experience of successfully delivering GCSEs/IGCSEs and A-level.

  • An international outlook and understanding of working in diverse environments.
  • International experience (preferred but not essential)
