The School
As Oman’s premier British school opened in 2021, this establishment welcomes pupils from KG1 to Grade 12 (ages 3 to 18), providing a seamless journey from Early Years to A Levels or the Omani GED. The Location
The Role
The school is committed to enabling each child within their care to achieve his or her full potential so that they can benefit from the excellent education on offer. The Learning Support Department is central to them being able to fulfil this commitment. The SENDCO will therefore be responsible for managing and delivering quality Special Educational Needs lessons across the school and ensuring that children are supported to access the curriculum and make outstanding progress.
Key Responsibilities will include:
– Develop and implement the school’s SEND policy and strategy in alignment with local regulations and best practices.
– Lead and manage the SEND team, including classroom assistants and specialist shadow and support staff.
– Provide guidance and training to teachers and support staff on best practices for supporting students with SEND.
– Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, policies, and procedures related to SEND within Oman
– To support the school in the diagnostic assessment of children where necessary, to identify their specific learning needs and offer individualised support.
– To deliver targeted individual and small group lessons to cater for the learning needs of specific children or groups of children.
– Managing the SEN budget effectively to ensure the allocation of resources, including staffing, equipment, and materials, to meet the needs of students with SEN.
