Get to know Brendan Fraser! Brendan is a Team Leader in our Executive Team in Brisbane with an impressive background in education, and the Navy!

Name: Brendan Fraser

Nickname: Simmo

Year joined: January 2020

What is your current role: Executive Recruiter & Team Leader (Brisbane). We are hiring for our team in Brisbane at the moment!

What was your journey like getting to this role? I worked for 25 years as a teacher then a Head of School. Prior to this I completed Navy training in South Africa in 1990 & 1991. I joined anzuk in Jan 2020 in Melbourne all of 2020 and now I am based in Brisbane, but still work with schools in Victoria (and of course Brisbane)!

What does a typical day look like for you? No two days are the same. I really enjoy speaking to school leaders and coaching emerging leaders with their careers.

What did you do before this? Teacher of PE, RE, English, humanities and Zulu. Was also Head of School.

Favourite podcast? Don’t really listen to a lot of podcasts. I love my audiobooks when I’m running/walking.

Favourite book? Busy reading The Tattooist of Auschwitz and thoroughly loving it currently.

What do you do when you’re not working? Spending time in the gym, sauna and walking/running.

Favourite BE GREAT value? Definitely, RELATIONSHIPS although we know how each value is linked to the other!

Favourite quote? People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.

What would you say to someone who is thinking about joining anzuk? anzuk has a young, vibrant, friendly atmosphere. I would recommend working here if you enjoy building relationships with people.

Fun fact about you? I once had to climb a rope and hang at the top for 5 and a half hours – apparently a world record at the time (1991).

Favourite country to visit? Went to Shanghai and loved it, I also would love to go to Japan.
