Humanities – There is something for everyone! These interactive resources will help students develop knowledge and understanding relating to how societies operate and how they are changing over time and the ways people, places, ideas and events are perceived (and much, much more!) Let’s get into them…

NGV (Primary aged): A beautiful resource by the NGV, offering a range of art experiences for various ages. Students can complete online activity sheets or engage in the artist e-books and learn about different artists and complete artworks themed around their style.

The Louvre: Based in Paris, the Louvre is offering its own virtual tour online for free.

Visit museums: Google Arts and Culture partnered with over 2,500 museums and galleries around the world to offer virtual tours of their spaces. Some of the options include New York’s Museum of Modern Art and Amsterdam’s Van Gogh Museum.

The British Museum: Located in the heart of London allows virtual visitors to tour the Great Court and discover the ancient Rosetta Stone and Egyptian mummies.

Geography with National Geographic: Get kids excited about their world, they won’t even realise they’re learning on this website!

Country Reports: 35,000 pages of online content on the different cultures and countries of the world.

National Geographic Young Explorers: This is a magazine designed specifically for young children. Children can listen to the magazine being read to them as they follow along with the highlighted text.

What was there: Type in any city, state, or country to view an archive of historical photographs and other documents. It’s a unique way to help children learn about history.

Active History: Provides interactive simulations, decision-making games, self-marking quizzes, worksheets and lesson plans for teachers and students of World History. It provides materials on hundreds of topics from the Middle Ages to the present day, aimed at every age range between 11-18 years.
How Uluru came to be: Uluru is found in Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park in Australia’s Red Centre. This region contains many landform features and is a place of special significance for both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal peoples alike. Find out about the Earth movements that created these incredible landforms and the creation stories of the area’s Aboriginal traditional landowners.
Global warming and climate change: The way we live can and has affected Earth’s natural environment. Find out more about what causes change.
My Place – ABC3: This My Place website is where you and your family can explore one place on earth and the kids who live there over 130 years. Like the television series and the book, this site is filled with people, places and objects, each with their own special story. It’s a way to have fun with the changing face of time.
Australian experiences of World War Two: Australian military forces played a significant part in World War Two, across several continents. Their involvement has strengthened the celebrated Anzac legend in Australian culture. From Kokoda to the Battle of Britain, Australian servicemen and women had a variety of experiences, in battle and as prisoners of war. Many of them recorded or have since relayed what they thought and felt. Learn more about the places where they served and what happened to them with this package. The resources in this package are aligned to the standards for the Victorian Curriculum History for Levels 9-10.
The Industrial Revolution: A series of learning sequences containing themes and discussion points address technological innovation, daily life, population movement and the long-term impact of the industrial revolution. PDF resources and links are provided, covering a range of case-studies, accounts, artworks and other sources, to assisit students in developing their historical skills and knowledge and understanding. The unit concludes with an essay assessment activity asking students to respond to the key themes and questions outlined in the unit. The resource is part of the AC History units website.
Timeline Tool:What is a timeline? You can organise a special event you’re looking forward to with a timeline. You can look back at memories and stories from the past with a timeline. Create one now and add images to the descriptions. Unfinished work can be saved, and final products shared via email.
Scootle: Resources are currently aligned with the Australian Curriculum: Search lessons by year level, strand, general capability or cross curriculum priority.

ABC Education: These resources include educational videos, teaching guides and games are mapped to the Australian Curriculum and are appropriate for both primary and secondary students.
