Online resources for the visual arts are far from scarce! We have sorted through and found some absolute gems for you to share with your kids and students! From drawing lessons and colouring sheets to virtual art galleries and thought-provoking articles about the value of art. Let’s get into it…

 

Visit museums: Google Arts and Culture partnered with over 2,500 museums and galleries around the world to offer virtual tours of their spaces. Some of the options include New York’s Museum of Modern Art and Amsterdam’s Van Gogh Museum.

Artsology: Help children learn to appreciate the arts by providing them with the opportunity to play games, conduct investigations, and explore different forms of art.

Kids Think Design: Explore careers in fashion design, graphic design, interior design, book design, product design, film and theatre, architecture, animation, and environmental design.

Adobe Education Exchange: Free professional development and resources at your fingertips. The Adobe Education Exchange is the free learning platform and community, designed by educators for educators, to ignite creativity in the classroom.

Drawing Lessons: Mo Willems, the author of ‘Don’t Let the Pigeon Stay up Late’ is uploading daily drawing lessons.

Art appropriation: A selection of articles about the issues surrounding art appropriation. This series covers definitions of what art appropriation is, examples, the impact of art appropriation on the indigenous culture and questions of ownership.

Visit the Met: A wonderfully detailed way to get kids engaged in the world of art.

Red Tent Art: Step by step instructions on art projects including origami, 3D cards, clay pots, etc.

Go Animate: Make your own animated videos with Go Animate.

ACMI: Explore art, animation, digital technologies, filmmaking, game making, and sustainability. You can browse our many primary and secondary modules and units for yourself or start with our highlighted lessons below. We’ve also special access to VCE and teacher programs online

Scripting and storyboarding a video interview:  Catherine Marciniak and Benj Binks from ABC Open provides some great tips on scripting and storyboarding a video interview. This is one of eight clips on making a mini-documentary.

Meet a Senior Exhibition Designer: Mark Patullo is the Senior Exhibition Designer. Mark describes the role and function of the Design team and then explains the structure of the design team, the people involved and his role. He discusses the tools, skills and knowledge required to work in an exhibition design team.

Carson Ellis’ Art Club: Carson Ellis, author and illustrator will be posting art assignments on her Instagram page every weekday morning. If you want to share them, you can use the hashtag #quarantineartclub. She’ll also provide individual hashtags for each exercise so everyone can see each other’s work.

Value in artworks: A series of articles that uses practical examples to examine and question the value of art and analyses how and why an object comes to be known as an artwork.

#DrawWithRob with Rob Biddulph: Rob Biddulph is an internationally bestselling and multi-award-winning children’s author and illustrator. He is also the official World Book Day Illustrator for 2019, 2020 and 2021. Rob launched a draw-along for children during school closures. 

Colouring sheets: We reached out to our educators for resources they could share within our community. Beth Turner-Summerton, a Secondary Art Teacher kindly shared her amazing colouring pages with us… Feel free to download them using the link below! Print them off and enjoy some mindful painting/ colouring with your students or by yourself!

Crafts and activities: Resources for parents, teachers and anyone who works with children. All Kids Network has got thousands of fun kids activities like kids crafts, worksheets, colouring pages, printable mazes, dot to dot, hidden pictures and more.
