My story was plain and simple. I went through the struggles of high school, jumped the hurdles of university, all with a smile on my face of course, but it felt like life was always on hold until I got that teaching degree! Before I knew it, graduation was sneaking up and I suddenly was about to be dropped off into the big, bad world of adulthood.

Searching for my next step in life, I came across anzuk in Melbourne. Like the guardian angels they all are, they invited me in with open arms with bucket loads of opportunities, one being to teach abroad in the UK. A few hours after my interview, I had already had my plane ticket booked, my visa well on its way and jobs lined up ready for me to come over to England with. It was so simple and effortless.

Since arriving in December, I have had the best times meeting the anzuk crew, teaching and learning the English curriculum and travelling to the most beautiful places I once only dreamed about.

Life as a teacher has so many beautiful moments. My favourite of all is when I had been supply teaching in one primary school, not far from my new English home, and they gave me a permanent PPA cover role within the school. When telling the student’s that I would be their regular substitute teacher, they all jumped and screamed with happiness. They were all so happy to have ‘Miss Roberts’ to teach them. That moment was all the reassurance I needed to let me know that I was doing a good job and that I had made the right career decision.

Packing up my life in Melbourne, saying goodbye to loved ones to come to London town was defiantly scary! I wish I could go back in time and tell myself not to be so scared. My biggest tip to someone coming over is to just do it. Say yes to every opportunity and don’t be scared. Anzuk have your back the whole way, guiding, informing, supporting and loving the journey you’re on through all of it! You’re not alone and anzuk are your number one biggest fans and support base.

Its thanks to the ‘just do it’ attitude, I have been able to go to Switzerland, St Petersburg, Berlin, Manchester, Sienna, Rome, Pompei, Venice, Amsterdam, Munich, Salsburg, Austria and Paris! My bucket list is forever growing! The best thing is, it’s so easy to achieve all these goals and dreams of mine because everything is so close, the people are incredibly nice, I have constant support and all the resources I could ever think of to make each one of my dreams come true.

I have to pinch myself sometimes because of how my life is turning out. It’s so exciting and I am so grateful for the opportunity anzuk has given to me.
