I have been at anzuk Education since 2013 and apart from a working holiday in South Korea, this job was my first foray into the ‘real world’ after university. Few people dream of being a recruitment consultant after graduating, especially if you are an idealistic English Literature & Creative Writing graduate. I ‘fell into recruitment’ – something many recruiters say at the start of their ‘how I got into recruitment’ story – and I am very fortunate I landed at anzuk. It has been a brilliant journey and there are some very good reasons as to why I am still here.

The company invests in its people. It makes sense that a company would put time, energy and resources into the drivers of its growth, right? Not always the case. I had no industry experience or background in sales, but the management team showed patience, had faith, gave me encouragement and allowed me to develop the tools to flourish. As I improved, there was always a next step for me to strive towards and that continues to be the case for new staff, no matter where they might start.

There is an opportunity to make a genuine difference. I work in an industry where I can constantly improve myself and reap the personal benefits of hard work, but I can also see the difference I make within society’s most important sector – education. I get to build relationships with inspirational teachers and school staff, I get an understanding of and help to alleviate the consistent challenges that schools face, and I witness the positive impact my efforts have on students’ education.

The company culture. The culture here is special; there is no other word for it. A bunch of individuals, however talented, will never be as strong as a team that works together and this is a concept that every person at anzuk understands. We are empowered with the responsibility and accountability for our own actions, so we all make sure we pull our weight. We celebrate each other’s successes and we drag each other through the tough periods; whatever we do, we do it together.

The journey I have been a part of – from 8 people strong when I started (in the London office) to the 25 or so it is now has been – has been enlightening. I’m looking forward to seeing just how far we can go.
