Primary SEND Teaching Assistant – Lewisham
We are looking to appoint an experienced SEMH/SEND Teaching Assistant to the team of dedicated and resourceful staff at our partner primary school in Lewisham, starting in the Spring Term. The role will be to support their pastoral worker in their Nurture provision. The successful candidate will be working as part of a great team, supporting children with severe and complex needs in Key Stage 2. We need someone with a passion for working with children who have SEND/SEMH needs, and someone with experience. This full time position is required to start January 8th until July 2024. The contract may be extended beyond this date at the discretion of the school depending on SEN funding

The Role of a Primary SEND Teaching Assistant:
We are looking for someone who:
- Is a dedicated, enthusiastic professional
- Has a passion for learning
- Trained or has experience in using the Boxall Nurture method (would be a benefit)
- Has excellent communication skills
- Has experience supporting children with SEMH/ SEND on a 1:1 basis
- Has experience of supporting mild to severe SEND including but not limited to: Autism, ADHD, Challenging Behaviour or Speech and Language difficulties
- Positive Handling training is desirable
- Is passionate about inclusive education
- Is willing to learn and to be trained further in this role
- Is qualified to at NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualifications or experience
- Working hours from 8:30 am – 3:30 pm
- Full time role starting January 8th – July 2024
What do you need:
- Must have experience with SEN children
- Hold an Enhanced Child workforce DBS with an update service subscription, or be willing to apply for one through anuzk
- Have a full updated CV, outlining employment covering the last two years – any gaps in employment must be accounted for
- References to cover the past two years
