anzuk Education is proud to partner with a friendly and  supportive two form entry primary school near Staines, to help recruit a teaching assistant. They need someone for 10 weeks between May 13th – July 18th 2024. The successful teaching assistant will support a reception class alongside an outstanding teacher.  

The school is looking for a passionate, outgoing teaching assistant who will assist the class teacher with day-to-day activities. The school is rated ‘GOOD’ by Ofsted. The school has fantastic indoor and outdoor facilities to inspire learning. They would like a teaching assistant who will be a great addition and continue to help offer a friendly, nurturing and supportive learning environment for their children. 

What does a Teaching Assistant role involve? 

  • Assisting the classroom teacher with general day-to-day activities 
  • Working on a 1:1 basis with a student or assisting in group work  
  • Helping set up activities
  • Provide academic and social support to students
  • Ensuring students stay on task and clarify instructions where necessary
  • Duties may include general school tasks like preparing resources, arranging learning spaces, and supervising break and lunchtimes
  • Some roles may involve providing support to children with special needs, such as Social, Emotional & Mental Health, Autism, and Speech and Language Communication Needs
  • Collaborate with the Class teacher to monitor and report on children’s progress

The ideal Teaching Assistant will have:

  • Experience working with children with, ideally in a school or educational setting
  • Some knowledge of different types of special educational needs and strategies for supporting students with those needs
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and staff
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, and to take direction from teachers and other senior staff
  • Flexibility and adaptability, with the ability to respond to changing needs and priorities
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people

Requirements:  

  • An Enhanced DBS or be willing to apply for one through anzuk
  • An up-to-date CV outlining employment covering the last 10 years
  • Some experience of working with students in a voluntary or paid capacity is ideal but not necessary
  • Some knowledge of supporting students who have a combination of learning, social, emotional or behavioural needs would be an advantage
