The Director of Business (CFO) is a significant role within Lowther Hall. The position requires:

The School
Lowther Hall has an excellent reputation for providing a well-rounded education for girls in an intimate environment of 900 students from Kindergarten to Year 12. They are a diverse, open-entry school where students are known and well catered for from their very first day.

The Role
This diverse role is responsible for a range of school operations, including financial and property management, and is critical to the successful management of the school.
  
The Director of Business (CFO) will be responsible for overseeing the prudent financial and business functions of the School to ensure a sound financial outcome and an effective and efficient level of internal and external service across the areas of Finance, Contract Management, Project Management and Buildings and Grounds.
  
The Director of Business (CFO) will also act as the Company Secretary. In this role the Director of Business has formal responsibilities as a designated officer of the company. The Company Secretary provides executive support for the Board of Directors in its governance role and advises on governance issues and practices.
  
The Director of Business (CFO) is a member of the Executive Management Team and supports this team in both the strategic and day-to-day leadership of the School.
  
Key Responsibilities and Duties (abridged, full details in Applicant Information Pack):  
The Director of Business (CFO) must be well informed in respect of, and be able to give effect to, specific Acts and requirements associated with:  

  • Industrial Relations
  • Australian, State and Local Governments Acts, Codes of Practice, By-Laws and Regulations to the extent that they may affect school operations
  • Insurances
  • Project Management
  • Audit Standards
  • Company Secretary
  • Environmental Matters

Essential Criteria

  • Degree qualifications in Business Management, Economics, Law, Accounting or related area.
  • Proven, extensive business management experience, including an in depth understanding of strategic financial management, together with experience in leadership and management of staff and business operations across a number of disciplines.
  • Ability to work at an Executive level including Board reporting and demonstrated ability to motivate and lead a multidisciplinary team to achieve a Strategic Plan using contemporary business practice.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate at all levels of the organisation and externally.
  • Ability to project manage capital works programs, including Work Health and Safety, risk management, budget and resource management.
  • Significant experience in leading, implementing and reviewing quality processes and strategies that are embedded throughout an organisation.
  • Sound judgement and the ability to operate autonomously with demonstrated initiative and innovative thinking in dealing with issues in a decisive and consistent manner.
  • Working with Children Check.

 Desirable Criteria

  • Experience in the education sector, including an understanding of educational legislative requirements, including State and Federal Government policy and funding arrangements.
  • Post Graduate business and/or education qualifications; for example, an MBA.
  • Success in obtaining government funding.

Commencing in Term 3, 2024, (or as negotiated), the Director of Business (CFO) is a full-time, ongoing position with five weeks annual leave.
