The School

St James’ Anglican school is a Co-educational school situated 40kms North of Perth in the suburb of Alkimos. Catering for students from Kindergarten to Year 12, St James Anglican school offers a holistic education emphasizing individual growth in academics, sports, and creative pursuits. Through a nurturing environment and diverse learning experiences including a robust curriculum, sports, music, and co-curriculars, students are empowered to reach their full potential in a safe and supportive setting.

The Role

St James’ has a 12 month contract opportunity available for a suitably qualified and enthusiastic Humanities teacher, commencing in Term 4, 2024 until Term 3 2025 (1 year Maternity cover). An ability to teach across learning areas would be advantageous. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Contribute to and teach innovative programs, working collaboratively within a team.
• Teach Years 7-10 HASS and develop engaging programs tailored to various abilities, involving parent communication.
• Ability to teach Geography and/or Politics & Law for Years 11/12 is desirable.
• Enhance the department through effective teaching, assessment, and targeted improvement strategies.
• Participate actively in the school’s co-curricular and broader activities.

Role Requirements:

• Hold a relevant teaching degree, with either experience teaching or a specialisation in HASS; new graduates are welcome.
• Must possess or be eligible to obtain TRBWA registration and Working with Children Check.
• Familiarity with the Western Australian Curriculum, or ability to adapt.
• Engage in professional development with a growth mindset.
• Support the Christian ethos of the school.
