Laughter, growth, collaboration and impact. These are the reasons I loved being a teacher. After two years teaching in east London my visa came to an end. I had reached whole new heights in self-confidence and drive and just wanted more! I left London with a fire in my belly and a thirst to continue to grow. I knew I needed a break from the classroom but also acknowledged that I am innately passionate about education, my students, and couldn’t stray too far.
I came to anzuk to register as a CRT for work until I had figured out how to channel my new-found ambition. As I waited for my anzuk consultant to call me in, there was a sign in the waiting room which had written on it, ‘ever thought of consulting?’. Being someone with nothing to lose, I thought to myself ‘well why not!’. I signed up that day with anzuk as a teacher and went straight home searching for any consultant roles they had posted. Within a week and 2 interviews later, there I was, an Education Recruitment Consultant!
I quickly learnt that anzuk is focused on people and potential. The day I got the job I felt that they had invested in me. I continue to feel that support every day. Being a teacher, you know how powerful modelling behaviour can be. anzuk’s values of BE GREAT – Belief, Exceptional, Growth, Relationships, Empower, Attitude and Team are the driving force to what makes this company for me, well worth diving in the deep end for. I am surrounded by hard working, positive and powerful role models that hold themselves genuinely accountable to these qualities every day. Our goal is to create exceptional experiences in education everyday through working together and creating opportunities for educators and learners to grow and build strong relationships. I have found meaning in this goal and in turn have found meaning as a member of the anzuk team.
Being an educator myself together with majority of the other consultants, there is a certain level of unique care, understanding and relatability. I have been able to re-invest my passion for people and education through working with colleagues and candidates who share my values in the art of educating and the power of potential.
